After many months of development, the Maidstone Pumas introduce the Invicta American Football Organisation (IAFO)
What is the IAFO?
The IAFO is an ”umbrella” organisation which has assumed central control of the Pumas Senior and Junior teams. This new venture, has taken control of:
In the inaugural Extraordinary General Meeting, held last Sunday, last years Head Coach and Britball veteran, Ted Smith was voted as Chief Executive of the new organisation. Ted will also cover Media and Marketing in an interim role. Stuart Crowley was voted as Game Day Operations Director and Dan Malyan was voted as Financial Director.
The Performance Directors role remains vacant and adverts will be posted on the BAFL website to seek people willing to take on this important role.
Ted Smith explains, “During last season it became clear that the small group of people who were running the Senior Team needed help in order to cover all the various roles which goes with running an American Football Club. With the club committed to introducing a youth programme, the management team grew concerned that resources would be stretched even further. Therefore, the group were forced to consider ways of covering those roles required to run the new club. Also as resources were tight, we had to ensure that available resources need to be project managed to get the best use of individual’s time and effort.”
The group studied the BAFA Whole Sport Plan and the section which covered organisation and governance were particularly helpful and helped shape the structure of the new organisation.
The intention all along has been that the senior and junior teams will be run on a day to day basis by their own management teams. It is the intention that both teams will have a Team Manager, Welfare Officer and Finance Manager. The Team Managers will represent their clubs on the IAFO Board.

It is the belief of all Pumas members that the shape and focus of this new organisation will spark further exciting times for the Mid Kent based club.
